SunTrust Visa® Check Card Buy and Fly Sweepstakes


Ends Dec. 31, 2000. Win 1 million air travel miles or cash in the SunTrust Visa® Check Card Buy and Fly Sweepstakes. This sweeps is limited to holders of SunTrust (or Crestar) Visa check cards.


  1. HOW TO PARTICIPATE: Every time you use your SunTrust Bank Visa Check Card to make a purchase during the period 9/1/2000 through 12/31/2000, you will automatically receive one entry into the sweepstakes.

    ATM transactions such as cash withdrawals, transfers and balance inquiries and PIN-based transactions do not qualify.

    To be eligible to win, your personal SenTrust Bank Visa Check Card account must be open and in good standing.

  2. NO PURCHASE OR CHECK CARD TRANSACTION NECESSARY TO PARTICIPATE; A PURCHASE OR CHECK CARD DOES NOT IMPROVE ONE’S CHANCE OF WINNING.

    If you do not wish to use your SunTrust Bank Visa Check Card, you may receive an entry by hand-printing your name, complete address, and telephone number on a plain piece of 3” x 5” paper (no photocopies accepted) and mailing it in a #10 envelope via first class mail to:

    Alternate entries are limited to one submission per day and must be mailed separately, postmarked by 12/31/2000 and received by 1/8/2001.

  3. PRIZES: Six (6) prizes are guaranteed to be awarded:
    • Grand Prize (1) - 1,000,000 “Air Travel” miles through a vendor selected by SunTrust (good for travel on any airline at any time to any destination; one million “Air Travel” miles are defined as intangible units of value that are redeemable for travel as explained by the vendor selected by SunTrust. Cash alternative is $25,000.

    • First Prize (2) - Two Delta Win The World Travel Certificates (Business Class travel to Europe from major airport closest to winner’s continental U.S. address; 7-day advance purchase and other restrictions apply; cash alternative is $6,998).

    • Second Prize (4) - Two Delta Win The World Travel Certificates (Coach Class travel to anywhere in the continental U.S., Canada or the Bahamas from major airport closest to winner’s continental U.S. address; 7-day advance purchase and other restrictions apply; cash alternative is $858).


    Winners will be selected in a random drawing on or about 1/22/2001 by PMC Financial. Winners will be notified by mail. The estimated odds of winning are 1 in 850,000; however, actual odds depend upon the number of eligible entries received.

    Not responsible for lost, late, postage due or misdirected mail-in entries or Check Card transactions processed late or incorrectly as a result of computer error or malfunction.

  4. GENERAL CONDITIONS: Sweepstakes open to SunTrust Bank Visa Check Card cardholders in good standing as of 12/31/2000 who are legal U.S. residents 18 years of age and older except employees and their immediate families (and persons living in same household) of SunTrust Banks, Inc. (“SunTrust”) and Visa USA, Inc., their affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, and suppliers of promotion materials.

    Void where prohibited or restricted by law. Tax liability, if any, and travel expenses not specified are the sole responsibility of each winner.

    Winners will be required to sign an Affidavit of Eligibility/Liability Release, and where legal, a Publicity Release, to be returned within time specified or prize award will be void and an SunTrust Bank Visa Check Card Sweepstakes alternate winner selected.

    Prizes may not be substituted, transferred or exchanged except as indicated.

    All entries become property of SunTrust. By participating, you a) accept and agree to these rules and all decisions of SunTrust and PMC Financial, an independent judging organization whose decisions are final, and b) release and hold harmless SunTrust and PMC Financial and their respective employees from and on account of all liabilities, claims, damages and injuries arising out of your participation in the sweepstakes and the acceptance or use of any prize.

  5. WINNERS’ LIST: To receive the names of the prize winners, mail a self-addressed, stamped envelope by 12/31/2000 to:
